MPH for Health Professionals

The Master’s of Public Health (MPH) program at UC Davis has been a fully accredited program since June of 2005.

Currently offered is a 56-unit MPH degree program intended for those with a baccalaureate (or higher) with an interest in one of our Areas of Emphasis: Epidemiology, Nutrition, Environmental and Occupational Health, Human and Zoonotic Infectious Disease, Veterinary Public Health, or General Public Health. For medical and veterinary students, the program is structured so that it can be completed in Summer Session II (beginning early August) through the end of the following Spring Quarter (mid-June) , typically between the second and third, or third and fourth years. For most students without a professional health degree at least part of a second year will be required to complete the degree. More information on the MPH program can be found at http://mph.ucdavis.edu/welcome.php

Graduate Degree Programs

Academic graduate degree programs at UC Davis are offered through the Graduate Division in the area of specialty. For instance, the Ph.D. and M.S. in Epidemiology are offered through the Graduate Group in Epidemiology. The following are strong programs on our campus:

  • Epidemiology The graduate group in Epidemiology at the University of California, Davis is a multidisciplinary program leading to either a Master of Science or a Doctor of Philosophy degree in epidemiology although we are currently giving strong preference to doctoral applicants.
  • Biostatistics The graduate group in Biostatistics provides students with a solid training in the biostatistical core disciplines and theory, state-of-the art knowledge and skills for biostatistical data analysis, substantial exposure to the biological and epidemiological sciences, and a strong background in theoretical modeling, statistical techniques and quantitative as well as computational methods.
  • Pharmacology and Toxicology The graduate group in Pharmacology and Toxicology is an interdepartmental graduate group with over 50 faculty from the Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
